In the course of a photography project by Marion Luttenberger we built a likeable little robot named „Mocking Bot“. The Mocking Bot is a small autonomous robot, which tries to reproduce everything it hears in its environment in a playful way .
The technology behind it: A microphone perceives the sounds, analyses them and reproduces them in a beeping form. In addition, a monochrome LCD display provides visual feedback: a digital face smiles, observes and babbles synchronously to the output sounds. The bot is based on several open-source hardware and software elements and is fundamentally based on the Arduino microcontroller prototyping platform. In conjunction with additional hardware components and a housing optimized for 3D printing, this product provides a comprehensive overall concept for hobbyists, electronics enthusiasts and designers with a penchant for interactivity.
